Class 20 Details:
Introduced: 1957-68
Engine: English Electric 8 SVT Mk 11 of 1000 b.h.p at 850rpm.
Weight: 73 tons
Brake Force: 35 tons
Maximum Tractive Effort: 42000lb
Transmission: Four axle-hung, nose-suspended d.c. traction motors.
Driving Wheel Diameter: 3'7"
Route Availability: 5
Maximum Speed: 75mph.
Coupling Code: Blue Star.
Notes:
20001-128 were built with disc indicators while 20129-228 were built with four character headcode boxes.
Class 20/3 Details:
Refurbished 1995-1996 by Brush Traction (20301-20305) or 1997-1998 by RFS(E) at Doncaster (20306-20315).
Disc indicators or headcode panels were removed.

Coupling Code: Blue Star. (20301-305 nose end only)
Class 20/9 Details:
Refurbished 1989 by Hunslet-Barclay at Kilmarnock.
